Another Step Toward Inclusivity for Juneteenth

Daz 3D is committed to creating a platform that’s inclusive for everyone and their unique identities. And a big part of that is listening to each of you. Individuals and a partner group informed us that we only had a white skin tone for our Genesis 8.1 base figures, and we updated them to be more inclusive.

We also wanted to pay tribute to the people of color here in the United States for Juneteenth, a holiday commemorating the country’s abolishment of slavery. It originated in Texas, where the enslaved African-Americans in Galveston were the last to be informed of their freedom. This took place in 1865, over two years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. 

Juneteenth celebrations were most popular in Texas in the beginning. However, it became more widespread as those African Americans and their descendants moved to other parts of the country. 

Observing Juneteenth at Daz 3D

You can observe and honor this holiday in numerous ways, and all of us at Daz want to celebrate people of color in the 3D realm too. Earlier this year, we partnered with Sowl Studios for Black History Month, and they curated two bundles that feature the best of our black character assets. We also added props and characters who experience disabilities to our store to encompass more of the human experience. 

For Juneteenth this year, we released even more skin tones for the Genesis 8.1 base figures. You can create characters in Daz Studio that are true to life and represent communities around the world. This has been a request from many of you, and rest assured that we’re listening. 

All of us here at Daz thank you for your encouragement and ideas as we have carried out goals to be more inclusive and continue to make more. Your voice is so important. We want to further include and benefit 3D artists in all communities, especially marginalized and minority ones.
